One DC Juneteenth Festival (6.16.18)

Imagine pulling up to a venue to perform and realizing that the environment looks strangely familiar…

When I arrived at the location of the One DC Juneteenth Festival, it dawned on me that I had performed here many years ago. My brother Cho and I had a free showcase there in 2009 to perform a few songs from our first mixtape.

It was surreal to be in the same location performing a paid show for a larger audience and seeing them embrace the music so openly. I brought out a few of my YOTKLUB brothers to perform with me including:

- 40 Pakio (@40Pak

- Heru the Guru (@Heru.Peacock)

- DJ Sarro (@DJSarro)

Each one of them played a significant role in the success of the show. I’d also like to thank my family and management for coming out to support as well. My mother, Porsha, Pam, Sput, Donna, and a host of others showed up to cheer me on and check out some of the new music off my upcoming project, “Why You Should Not Fall In Love.” Also, big thanks to BJ and Claire for inviting me out! Shouts out to Chelly the MC for doing her thing as well!

I also want to give a big thanks to the Jon C Media Group for coming out to document the entire showcase! If you’re ever looking for high-quality photography and videography in the DMV area, definitely check out his page here.

The next show is at Howard Theatre on the 30th! Be sure to purchase your tickets here!

I’m looking forward to seeing you at the next show!
